I was listening to some people grumble about the gen-yer’s
and their heightened sense of entitlement in the work place. The
conversation made me think of many filmmakers that have this same sense of entitlement. They think because they made a movie the
money should be flowing in. It
would be nice if the world worked that way but it doesn’t. This isn’t the field
of dreams. If you build it they won’t come. You can put your film on every screen in the galaxy and it still won't make any money. You must
market, market, market and then market some more. Then you will see a return.
By the way, I apply this rule to myself. We built IndieFlix because we saw this huge demand and once it was launched I was scratching my head saying, "where’s the money?" Now we market and what we’re learning is we must market more and help our filmmakers and partners market. It takes a village but by God we are going to get there!
